The reason? I am working on several projects including updating this blog. Coming soon you will see a whole new format as well as my five minute wake up routine that I have been promising for quite some time now - actually I am going to make it a 6 minute routine I figured most of you could handle 6 minutes of exercise a day.

For now I want to promote someone elses website. Sammy Franco.

You all know that I like Matt Furey (he's one of my mentors) and his attitude and the way he has a simple and direct way of explaining things to you sometimes in your face!

Anyway Sammy Franco is very similar in his direct simple way of explaining and his area of expertise is self-defense. So here you have it, one of the best ways to stay healthy would be to defend your health from physical damage of an assailant. When you do not breathe, you expire." – Quote from an 11-year-old’s science exam

John Grinder, co-creator of NLP talks about the link between respiration, physiology, internal state and high performance. He calls this ‘the chain of excellence’. I recently read a book by Osho, the wonderfully non-PC mystic and guru. In the book, Osho instructed the reader to pay attention to their breathing rate when they were sad, and notice the timing of the in-breath and out-breath. He explained that next time they were happy, they could re-induce the sad state by merely repeating the breathing pattern. Fortunately, he added, it works the other way round too!

Follow some or all of these exercises;

Firstly; When you are experiencing a powerful, positive state, allow yourself to become aware of your breathing rate. Pay particular attention to the timing and rhythm of your in-breath and out-breath.

Secondly; Next time you are in a neutral or negative state, start breathing at the rate and rhythm from exercise one, and within a minute or so, the positive state should begin to return.

Many gurus advise people to do breathing exercises regularly. I know Tony Robbins does in his marvellous book “Unlimited Power” he advises that you start each day with a breathing exercise of inhaling slowly and deeply, then holding it for twice as long as the inhalation and exhaling in twice the pace. It really is invigorating and a great way to get motivated at the start of the day, especially if you are looking to do some things with your day that require motivation.

Breathing is powerful, our life force and is a major factor influencing our state of mind (if you uncertain about this, hold your breath for two minutes & re-read this sentence) This being the case, please use your common sense when doing any of these exercises (if you have a respiratory condition, please check with your health advisor first.) I do not want any asthmatics complaining that they did themselves harm following these exercises!!

So, thirdly; Start breathing comfortably but deeply, in through your nose & out through your mouth. Imagine that you are breathing from that area of your abdomen just beneath your belly button. Make the in-breath last to a count of 5 and the out-breath to a count of 6. Continue for at least 2 minutes, and notice what happens.

This 5:6 ratio seems to be a simple yet powerful way you can induce a relaxed state at will. The art of Yogic breathing is called Pranayama. Pranayama offers many different approaches for cleansing the mind & body through breathing exercises. Here’s one of them (with thanks to RA Wilson):

Fourthly (this may seem a bit odd to do, I’d recommend not doing this in front of friends or at work!) ; Lie on your back & pant like a dog, breathing rapidly in & out through your mouth 20 times. Then, breathe slowly, deeply and gently in and out 20 times through your nose. Once again, do the mouth-panting 20 times, then resume gentle nose-breathing. Notice what happens.

This technique is referred to as the breath of fire, and typically results in a state of… well, you find out!

These techniques can be very powerfully utilised when wanting to get in control of your state if you are going through a period of change such as reducing your weight, stopping smoking or developing more confidence.

Please remember that most people don’t breathe nearly enough. Start to breathe more deeply and notice how much better you feel. Have lots of fun with this. Notice how good you can make your self feel when you breathe differently.

About the Author: To receive Adam's amazing bi-monthly newsletter, packed with modern, innovative, psychological tips, techniques and information visit http://www.adam-eason.com You'll also receive a free instantly downloadable hypnosis session to enjoy at home.

I'm back!!

Sorry I have not been updating lately I have been very busy with my other interests. Here is an article that helps explain this and a free e-book to boot...

Natural Herbal Remedies-harmful effects and things to avoid
By: Michael Fortomas

Natural herbal remedies are good medicine. There is no doubt about that fact. What is so amazing about natural herbal remedies is their close association to our modern medicines. Most of our current “wonder drugs” have a botanical connection.

In recent years the issue of Alternative Healing has skyrocketed to the forefront of the medical field. A 2004 government survey concluded that more than one third of adults use alternative medicine and healing.

However, there are over 300,000 higher plant species. A good herbalist may know of one or two thousand of them. This means that even an experienced herbalist can make mistakes. Let’s take a look at some of the most common problems.

Pregnant women should avoid barberry root bark, cascara sagrada, feverfew, juniper berries, mugwort, pennyroyal, pokeroot, rue, senna, southernwood, tansy, thuja and wormwood. All of those herbs can increased a risk for miscarriage. Safe herbs during pregnancy would be Manna, Butternut Bark or Root, Flax Seed, Slippery Elm and Lemon Verbena.

No matter what herb(s) you are taking, be mindful of anything unexpected. Stop taking whatever it is and consult an expert you can trust.

Make certain you have the correct diagnosis. Diagnosis is not easy and sometimes doctors make mistakes. Generally, however, a doctor is much better equipped to diagnose. Discuss any planned herbal discipline you plan to undertake with your physician.

Watch for any allergic reactions. Even though you may have never had any allergies in the past, if you are embarking on an herbal journey, watch carefully for any adverse reactions. If you experience difficulty in breathing within 30 minutes of trying a new herb, food or drug, call 911 immediately! You may be having an anaphylactic reaction which is the most severe form of allergic reaction. This condition can quickly become fatal unless treated promptly. This reaction is rare, but you need to be careful and be aware.

Watch for any interactions. Medicines often interact negatively with one another. So do herbs. Always be careful when taking more than one drug or herb or a combination of both. If you suspect an interaction consult your physician or pharmacist.

One interaction that you should be aware of is Antidepressants known as monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors. They interact badly with wine, cheese and many other foods. St. John’s Wort is also an MAO inhibitor so the same food restrictions apply. If you plan on using St. John’s Wort, discuss it with your physician or pharmacist.

Lastly, make certain that both your physician AND your herbalist are fully aware of all medications and/or herbal treatments you are using.

If you are sick and tired of being over-medicated, you can take control and start a journey toward natural herbal remedies with Michael's FREE ebook "47 Herbal Remedies"
Visit http://1source-body-health.com/herbal-remedies.html

10 Powerful Tips To Stop Smoking - #1 Breathe Deeply

By: Adam Eason

(Notice Adam's first Hint!)

Whether you are using Nicotine Replacement Therapy, Hypnosis or just Cold Turkey, these strategies and hints are for aiding you to stop smoking and are sure to assist you in helping your neurology change and thus enable you to stop smoking with ease. It is up to you to ensure that you do these things to really enhance what you are doing, the more effort you put into these exercises, the easier it is to stop smoking for good.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 1.

Being a smoker is like cycling with stabilisers attached to the wheels, you can find it hard to be balanced without smoking. Now, when you cycle freely again, the natural balance returns.

When people smoke, more than half of what they breathe is fresh air - pulled through the cigarette right down into the lungs. So if you feel any cravings you can instantly overcome them by taking three deeper breaths. Imagine breathing from that space just below your belly button. Whenever you do this you put more oxygen into your bloodstream. This means you can use deep breaths to change the way you feel instantly and give you power over the way you feel and help you let go of those old cravings and thus making it easier to stop smoking.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 2

Next, think now of all the reasons you don't like smoking, the reasons that it's bad and the reasons you want to stop smoking. Write down the key words on a piece of paper. For example, you experience breathlessness, it's dirty, filthy and your clothes smell, your friends and family are concerned and it's expensive, unsociable and so on. Then, on the other side of the paper, write down all the reasons why you'll feel good when you've succeeded in stopping. You'll feel healthier, you’ll feel in control of your self, your senses are enhanced, your hair and clothes will smell fresher and so on. Whenever you need to, look at that piece of paper.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 3

Next, we are going to programme your mind to feel disgusted by cigarettes. I want you recall 4 times when you thought to yourself "I've gotta quit", or that you felt disgusted about smoking. Maybe you just felt really unhealthy, or your doctor told you in a particular tone of voice 'You've got to quit' or somebody you know was badly affected by smoking. Take a moment now to come up with 4 different times that you felt that you have to quit or were disgusted by smoking.

Remember each of those times, one after another, as though they are happening now. I want you to keep going through those memories and make them as vivid as possible. The more vivid you make those memories, the easier it will be to stop smoking. See what you saw, hear what you heard and feel how you felt. I want you to take a few minutes now to keep going through those memories again and again, overlap each memory with the next until you are totally and utterly disgusted by cigarettes.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 4

Have a think to yourself about the consequences of you not stopping smoking now, if you just carry on and on. Imagine it, what will happen if you carry on smoking. What are the consequences? Imagine yourself in 6 months time, a years time, even 5 years time if you do not stop smoking now. Think of all the detrimental effects of not stopping right now and how a simple decision you make today can make such an impact on your future.

Next, imagine how much better is your life going to be when you stop smoking. Really imagine it's months from now and you successfully stopped. Smoking is a thing of the past, something you used to do. Keep that feeling with you and imagine having it tomorrow, and for the rest of next week. In your mind, imagine stepping in to that non-smoking version of you and feel how it feels to be a non-smoker.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 5

Also, your mind is very sensitive to associations, so it's very important that you have a clear out and remove all tobacco products from your environment. Move some of the furniture in your house and at work. Smokers are accustomed to smoking in certain situations. So, for example, if you used to smoke on the telephone at work move the phone to the other side of the desk. Throw away ashtrays, old lighters and anything that you used to associate with smoking. Make your environment conducive to stopping smoking.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 6

Smokers sometimes use their habit to give themselves little breaks during the day. Taking a break is good for you, so carry on taking that time off - but do something different. Walk round the block, have a cup of tea or drink of water, or do some of the techniques on this programme. In fact, if possible drink a lot of fruit juice. When you stop smoking the body goes through a big change. The blood sugar levels tend to fall, the digestion is slowed down and your body starts to eject the tar and poisons that have accumulated. Fresh fruit juice contains fructose which restores your blood sugar levels, vitamin C which helps clear out impurities and high levels of water and fibre to keep your digestion going. Also try to eat fruit every day for at least two weeks after you have stopped.

Also when you stop, cut your caffeine intake by half. Nicotine breaks down caffeine so without nicotine a little coffee will have a big effect. Drink 8-10 glasses of water (ideally bottled) to help wash out your system.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 7

You were used to using cigarettes to signal to your body to release happy chemicals, so next we are going to programme some good feelings into your future. Allow yourself to fully remember now a time when you felt very deep ecstasy, pleasure or bliss, right now. Take a moment to recall it as vividly as possible. Remember that time - see what you saw, hear what you heard and feel how good you felt. Where abouts in your body were those feelings, imagine turning them up and spreading them through your body to make them more intense.

Keep going through the memory, as soon as it finishes, go through it again and again, all the time squeezing your thumb and finger together. In your mind, make those images big and bright, sounds loud and harmonious and feelings strong and intensified. We are making an associational link between the squeeze of your fingers and that good feeling.

Okay, stop and relax. Now if you have done that correctly when you squeeze your thumb and finger together you should feel that good feeling again. Go ahead do that now, squeeze thumb and finger and remember that good feeling.

Now we're going to programme good feelings to happen automatically whenever you are in a situation where you used to smoke but now you stop smoking.

So, next I'd like you to squeeze your thumb and finger together, get that good feeling going and now imagine being in several situations where you would have smoked, but being there feeling great without a cigarette. See what you'll see hear and take that good feeling into those situations without a need for a cigarette.

Imagine being in a situation where someone offers you a cigarette and you confidently say 'No thanks, I don't smoke'. And feel fantastic about it!

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 8

Get social support. Your commitment to stopping smoking for the rest of your life can be made much easier by talking about it to friends and family and letting them support you. They will congratulate you on doing so well too! You really did stop smoking.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 9

Be aware of making excuses for yourself. Some people talk themselves into smoking, especially if they encounter a stressful situation and in the past they used to deal with it by smoking. If those old thoughts pop into your head, shout the word “STOP” in your head, to stop the thoughts from progressing. Nicotine just stresses your body more and is like that itch that can never be properly scratched; the more you smoke, the more you have to. So say “STOP” and steer clear of old slippery slopes.

Powerful Stop Smoking Hint 10

Reward yourself. Congratulate yourself. Feel how good it feels to stop smoking and be a non-smoker. Treat yourself each time you get past a certain milestone; the first week or first month, the six month target. Let yourself know that you did something really special here.

Keep on using your brain, stretching it and helping your self, by running through these exercises time after time; you are sure to be able to make it easier and easier and successfully stop smoking for good.

Adam Eason is an author, speaker and consultant in the fields of hypnosis, NLP, personal development and human potential. Having healthy and attractive skin is becoming very important as more people are realizing that skin care is an important part of staying younger and looking attractive. At the same time those who are suffering from Psoriasis, Eczema or other ailments are discovering that often the only remedies their dermatologists recommend are steroid creams and other treatments which can have some negative side effects on the body.

Many people have started turning to Dead Sea products as a natural way to help relieve these skin ailments and to keep their skin looking and feeling healthy and smooth. Recently, ABC’s Good Morning America did a special on The Dead Sea and beauty and skin products made with Dead Sea minerals.

So what exactly is The Dead Sea why are skin care products made with the ingredients from the sea so effective? The Dead Sea is located in Israel and Jordan and is officially the saltiest body of water in the world. The sea contains over 32% salt content – compared to only 3% present in regular ocean water. Not only does The Dead Sea have a higher overall concentration of Dead Sea salt, but certain mineral elements such as Potassium, Magnesium, Calcium and Bromine are present in much higher quantities than in regular sea water. These Dead Sea minerals have been proven to be “essential” minerals which are vital to healthy skin function and appearance.

Many various skin care and cosmetics products are manufactured today on the shores of The Dead Sea – all using minerals and healthy ingredients extracted from Dead Sea mud and water. These product range from natural soap to moisturizers, to salt scrubs and more. Unique products such as the anti-cellulite seaweed soap and shea body butter have also gained popularity in the United States.

So what’s the good news for Psoriasis sufferers? A recent study demonstrates that using Dead Sea cosmetics, salt and mud helps ease Psoriasis symptoms. Fifty Psoriasis patients were gathered for a study in 1989 by Israli Dermatologist Dr. Zvi Even Paz. Dr. Paz studied the effect of using Dead Sea bath salts on these patients. Although it was long known that bathing in The Dead Sea would bring about temporary relief from this incurable condition, it was not known whether bathing in Dead Sea bath salts anywhere would produce the same results. For forty seven of the fifty Psoriasis patients tested significant relief and skin improvements were achieved. Maximum improvement was found when patients used two pounds per bath, three times a week over a period of six weeks.

Dead Sea skin care products have also been found effective at reducing wrinkles and signs of skin aging. According to Israeli chemist Dr. Uzi Reiss, “Our skin cells need Sodium and Potassium for their membrane transport systems. Dead Sea compounds may be the best way of insuring that our skin cells maintain proper moisture and mineral levels. This is the best natural line of defense against the dermal breakdown that causes aging and wrinkles.”

For those without a PhD in chemistry, Dead Sea products are simply a natural way to keep the face and skin looking young and smooth. As natural skin care treatments gain more and more popularity among people who don’t like to put pharmaceutical chemicals on their skin – Dead Sea skin care is emerging as the leader of natural skin care products.

“You are seeing natural skin care becoming the mainstream popular consumer product – just like botox and surgical treatments were all the rage of the nineties” says John Mayer – the head of product development at Cleopatra’s Choice Dead Sea Products – “Many people are realizing that there are natural alternatives to achieving the look they want and Dead Sea mineral skin care is becoming a large part of that”

Indeed [bath salts, mud masks and salt scrubs have been around for years, but it’s that special ingredient of essential Dead Sea minerals that is the reason why skin care enthusiasts are falling in love with Dead Sea cosmetics.

Visit our website at http://www.cleopatraschoice.com

Another free breathing exercise

Here's a good one to help increase your lung capacity and your ability to hold your breath!

Take a deep breath in
Let out half the air and immediately a deep breath again.
Let out half the air and immediately a deep breath again.
Do this three to four times to start. Pacing is the global action - the totality and it encompasses matching, mirroring, rhythm, speed, and/ or tonality... etc.

Mirroring is simply - if I move my right hand, you're going to move your left hand. If I scratch with my left arm, you scratch with your right arm.

Matching is: If I raise my left hand, you raise your left hand. You match the movements with your same hand. Mirroring and matching are a subset of pacing. Pacing is a meta level above, so to speak.

What are the actions that are the best to pace?

Breathing! This is one of the most powerful things to pace and it's very easy to do, especially if you are talking to someone. The small complication is that while you are talking you have to get the rhythm of all this down. You're talking, I’m paying attention to your talking, I’m talking, and now I’m going to try to pace your breathing too. That's quite a bit to add because talking is so unconscious.

You have to get comfortable with this and with some practice and experience - you can! Here's a little trick for you. If I'm talking am I breathing in or out? If I'm talking, I'm breathing out!

So right now take your hand and put it out in front of you, like good trance subjects... very good! As you read this imagine that, "I'm talking and I want you to lower your hand slightly, just lower it a bit, good now I take a breath... ( and up comes your hand) and I start to talk again and your hand begins to move down again just as I speak." So find someone and as they talk, follow along with your hands - you can use the TV or radio for this as well. Just practice this - you will discover that when someone stops talking, mostly they are getting a breath.

It's not that hard. Really, getting to understand someone's breathing is not all that hard. It is one of the most profound things to pace.

We can also pace facial expressions. This is a really big thing to be able to pace. If they're smiling and your smiling, guess what? You're both smiling. Whatever it is they're doing facially, you're going to do it as well. Therefore, Tai Chi could be used as an alternative modality in treating patients with mild hypertension, with a promising economic effect.” This study laid out a way to save our society, perhaps billions of dollars annually, and possibly save some patients with mild chronic hypertension the potential negative side effects of chronic lifelong medication. However, this largely hasn’t occurred.

I caught a glimpse why when I was staying in the beautiful mountain town of Otavala, Ecuador, with a woman known for her knowledge of traditional Indian medicines. A tour of young American medical students stopped here to listen and learn from the Indian woman’s tour of her herbal gardens. As I followed them, I asked a group of young bright medical students if they were aware that Tai Chi was found to reduce high blood pressure. One lovely young woman replied, “Oh, yes, I’ve heard that, but I would never prescribe it.”

I asked why, and she responded that she couldn’t because she didn’t know if it would work. Although Tai Chi studies do show that Tai Chi indeed helps lower high blood pressure, it is true that it does not reduce it in every person. However, it is also true that every drug prescription does not work on every person either. I suggested to the young medical student that she consider that many times I’ve been to the doctor, and he’s pulled out a prescription pad and explained, “Let’s give this a try, and see how it works for you, and if it doesn’t do the job, we’ll try something else.” Most of us are familiar with this, and by the confused look on the student’s face, I’m assuming her memory banks were bringing up similar images.

So, why are our medical universities giving students the impression that they should not be prescribing Tai Chi, since we know it can help lower high blood pressure for many, who if it is successful with them, can enjoy a lifetime free of chronic and costly medications? And not only do that, but offer a plethora of GOOD SIDE EFFECTS including a stronger immune system and healthier respiratory system. This is a deep and important question we need to be asking as patients and consumers, and health professionals must begin asking this question regularly in order to fulfill the duties of their Hippocratic oath. For, today we have even a much better understanding of Tai Chi’s potential than we did a few years ago, so ignorance or inconclusive data is not an acceptable explanation from our medical universities that train our future doctors, without teaching them about Tai Chi research, and what it portends for their future patients.

Today, we are clearer on exactly why Tai Chi is such a powerful therapy for high blood pressure sufferers. In a March 17, 2005, article by the Mayo Clinic staff posted at mayoclinic.com they lay out what a “stress response” is, and the effects it has on the body. This is at the core of high blood pressure problems and the physical changes chronic stress responses illicite that creates or aggravates hypertensive conditions.

In their article, they explain that a stress response, or “fight or flight” reaction involves our pituitary gland releasing adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), which sets a domino effect signaling other glands to produce additional hormones, such as adrenal glands which flood the blood stream with stress hormones, such as “cortisol” and “adrenaline.”

When ordinary life’s daily frustrations trigger this effect over and over again, the results can be damaging to the mind and body. Many of us experience this domino effect of triggers and hormones daily, which is why about 1/3 of Americans, or over 90 million Americans, suffer from high blood pressure.

Cutting edge scientists like Dr. Herbert Benson, President of the Mind/Body Institute at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, are discovering a stunning reality through their research. In a wonderful article by Jeanie Lerche Davis at WebMD Medical News entitled The Mysterious 'Medication' of Meditation (http://my.webmd.com/content/article/25/1728_57992.htm), she writes of how such researchers are discovering that “meditation can indeed be medication – creating long lasting physiciolgical effects that reduce high blood pressure and even help unclog arteries to reverse heart disease.”

Dr. Benson, who is also associate professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, sought to prove how this effect could be shown objectively, and had five long-time meditation practitioners take MRI brain scans while meditating. Dr. Benson informed WebMD in the aforementioned article by Davis, "There was a striking quietude across the entire brain which was documented through MRI . . . The areas of the brain that became active from that quietude were those that control metabolism, heart rate, etc., . . . We knew meditation caused a relaxation response, but we couldn't prove it. We knew that if you thought in a certain way, with repetition, that physiologic changes would occur in the body. Here now is proof that mind, in the form of repetition, is affecting the brain, which affects the body . . . "

Stroke Magazine reported on a study funded by the National Institutes of Health, conducted by Dr. Amparo Castillo-Richmond, from the Maharishi University, more specifically on high blood pressure afflicting black people. The meditating group saw a reduction in the thickness of one of the arteries that supplied blood to the brain. Which indicates that blood flow is increasing. The group only using diet and exercise saw their artery walls getting thicker, which indicated that less blood was flowing through to the brain. This finding led Dr. Castillo-Richmond to make the profoundly exciting assertion, "It's possible to reverse heart disease through meditation."
In fact, not only hypertension, but up to 90% of other illnesses sending us to the doctor are being caused by stress, according to Dr. Herbert Benson. Which makes Dr. Benson’s and Dr. Castillo-Richmond’s findings that meditative techniques can so dramatically alter our stress producing “fight or flight” response in healthy ways even more wonderful.

Dr. Benson explains, that the relaxation response triggered by repetitive forms [like tai chi, yoga, etc.] can result in decreased metabolism, heart rate, breathing rate, blood pressure, and also slower brain waves.” Benson asserts that it is the repetitive nature of acts like praying the rosary, yoga, or tai chi’s physical repetitive muscular actions that provides the profound hope for reducing anxiety, mild and moderate depression, anger and hostility, hypertension, cardiac irregularities, and all forms of pain, which are made worse by stress.

This concept of Tai Chi being an effective tool for reducing or even avoiding incidence of high blood pressure or other illnesses all together, is echoed elsewhere. Mayoclinic.com also recommends Tai Chi for relaxation training in an article entitled, “Relax: Techniques to help you achieve tranquility” which also explains why relaxation is important and what you might experience by practicing tools that will help you relax.

They detail how you can improve body responses to stress, such as: Slowing your heart rate; Reducing blood pressure; Slowing your breathing rate; Reducing the need for oxygen; Increasing blood flow to the major muscles; Lessening muscle tension.

They go on to explain that practicing relaxation techniques may help you experience: Fewer symptoms of illness, such as headaches, nausea, diarrhea and pain; Few emotional responses such as anger, crying, anxiety, apprehension and frustration; More energy; Improved concentration; Greater ability to handle problems; More efficiency in daily activities.
So, time and time again as we begin to examine one particular benefit of Tai Chi, such as lowering high blood pressure, we see a whole universe of potential opening up before us.

An article from Archives of Internal Medicine, as reported on NBC’s local WCAU Health (http://wcau-tvhealth.ip2m.com/index.cfm?pt=itemDetail&Item_ID=112735&Site_Cat_ID=77) explained a Tai Chi research program at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston revealed a great deal. The article authors wrote, "Overall, these studies reported that long-term Tai Chi practice had favorable effects on the promotion of balance control, flexibility and cardiovascular fitness and reduced the risk of falls in elders . . . Cardiovascular and respiratory function improvements were noted in healthy people and those who had undergone coronary artery bypass surgery as well as people with heart failure, hypertension, acute myocardial infarction, arthritis and multiple sclerosis . . . Benefit was also found for balance, strength, and flexibility in older subjects; falls in frail elderly subjects; and pain, stress and anxiety in healthy subjects.” They add the actual ways that Tai Chi provides these benefits are not well known.

The fact is that less than .5% of the National Institute of Health’s budget goes to research alternative therapies, leaving yoga, meditation, tai chi, massage, herbal therapy, aroma therapy, and the entire massive field of alternative health systems to struggle over .5%, or a little over $100 million of the $28 billion (approx.) annual budget. Given the above studies, it boggles the mind that such a small portion of the health research dollars are going to Tai Chi.

To recap, about 1/3 of the American population suffers high blood pressure. Tai Chi is proven to be a beneficial therapy that not only has no bad side effects, but dramatically improves immune function, respiratory function, lowers the incidence of anxiety and depression, and profoundly improves the balance of practitioners. Tai Chi does more, but for our purposes here these profound realities are enough to show exactly why it is truly unbelievable that Tai Chi is getting so little scrutiny in medical research dollars, when it can save so many from chronic suffering and perhaps some from a lifetime of chronic costly medications.

It is time we all began to ask the question that all good consumers should ask, “What is the best way/product for my health?” If Tai Chi is that product, the next question is, “Why isn’t every physician offering it as an option to their patients with hypertension, as a prescription?” “Why aren’t all insurance policies covering such prescriptions for Tai Chi?” Ask and ye shall receive. We must become informed and demanding health consumers, in order to get the best health options available.

This article does not advocate self-treatment, and encourages all to make health choices in conjunction with their physician. However, if your physician is close-minded to anything but a certain group of health options, even when research indicates your choices may be wider, than it is time to have a good talk with your physician about possibly widening your options.

Bill Douglas is the Tai Chi Expert at DrWeil.com, Founder of World T'ai Chi & Qigong Day (held in 50 nations each year), and has authored and co-authored several books including a #1 best selling Tai Chi book “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to T’ai Chi & Qigong.” Bill’s been a Tai Chi source for The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, etc. You can learn more about Tai Chi & Qigong, and also contact Bill Douglas at http://www.worldtaichiday.org

How Lose Weight Fast Diets Mislead You

How Lose Weight Fast Diets Mislead You
By David Buster

Are you wondering how lose weight fast diets work? It's a legitimate question to ask -- and here's how lose weight fast diets promise that you'll achieve fast weight loss but usually fail to deliver what they promise:

Before and After Photos - the photos shown are impressive. Don't be mislead. Assuming the subjects really lost weight, it was likely with tremendous will power and at the expense of their overall health.

Low-Fat/High-Carb Dieting - virtually all the diets promise that they are how lose weight fast diets are supposed to work. Somewhere, you're going to be asked to purchase a product or products. That is the real goal of the diet and its promises.

Calorie Restriction - how lose weight fast diets rely on limiting calories and they fail to address insulin imbalance and blood sugar fluctuations. What this means is by following the calorie restriction recommendations, you will be hungry most of the time. That's no way to lose weight permanently. And the weight you do lose in the first few weeks will be water and lean muscle which sets the stage for more weight gain later. What you really want to do is to lose fat (not water and muscle), you want the loss to be permanent and you do not want to be craving food and snacks constantly. You can read how to achieve this kind of weight loss right now.

How lose weight fast diets cannot work to help you permanently lose weight without your being hungry most of the time, and the reason is because these types of diets rely on will power. If you are just strong enough and disciplined enough, the pounds will magically melt away while at the same time, you will not feel hungry. Unfortunately, this is working against the body, not with it. If you really want to lose weight forever, you need to work with nature and your body, not against it.

How can you learn more about how lose weight fast diets do not work and are not the way to permanently lose weight? What you must do to achieve weight loss without being hungry and without having to buy weight loss products that do not work?

There's a free online weight loss report that explains it all including important subjects such as how much can one eat, what are the good and bad fats and oils, why you get cellulite even if you're not overweight, how fast should you lose weight, and what about weight loss pills, fat blockers and much more.

www.safemenopausesolutions.com

Here is a scientific article showing the benefits of breathing exercises

Effects of 8 week, interval-based inspiratory muscle training and breathing retraining in patients with generalized myasthenia gravis by Guilherme Augusto De Freitas Fregonezi, et al.

Study objective: To assess the effect of interval-based inspiratory muscle training (IMT) combined with breathing retraining (BR) in patients with generalized myasthenia gravis (MG) in a partial home program.

Design: A randomized controlled trial with blinding of outcome assessment.

Setting: A secondary-care respiratory clinic.

Patients: Twenty-seven patients with generalized MG were randomized to a control group or a training group.

Interventions: The training group underwent interval-based IMT associated with BR (diaphragmatic breathing [DB] and pursed-lips breathing [PLB]) three times a week for 8 weeks. The sessions included 10 min each of DB, interval-based IMT, and PLB. Interval-based IMT consisted of training series interspersed with recovery time. The threshold load was increased from 20 to 60% of maximal inspiratory pressure (Plmax) over the 8 weeks.

Measurements and results: Lung function, respiratory pattern, respiratory muscle strength, respiratory endurance, and thoracic mobility were measured before and after the 8 weeks. The training group improved significantly compared to control group in PImax (p = 0.001), maximal expiratory pressure (PEmax) [p = 0.01], respiratory rate (RR)/tidal volume (VT) ratio (p = 0.05), and upper chest wall expansion (p = 0.02) and reduction (p = 0.04). Significant differences were seen in the training group compared to baseline PImax (p = 0.001), PEmax (p = 0.01), maximal voluntary ventilation (p = 0.02), RR/VT ratio (p = 0.003), YT (p = 0.02), RR (p = 0.01), total time of RR (p = 0.01), and upper chest wall expansion (p = 0.005) and reduction (p = 0.005). No significant improvement was seen in lower chest wall or lung function.

Conclusions: The partial home program of interval-based IMT associated with BR is feasible and effective in patients with generalized MG. Improvements in respiratory muscle strength, chest wall mobility, respiratory pattern, and respiratory endurance were observed.

Need to learn more try - Healing Kinetics on Squidoo

Article on Yoga vs Pilates

Here is an article from Mike Singh. I found this interesting and a good explanation of the differences.

________________________________________________

Many have heard of yoga and Pilates. But, not everyone realizes that there are several differences between these two types of exercising regimens. In fact, yoga is hardly classified as just an exercise program. Each of these methods are quite powerful tools to allow you to feel and look better. But, they are also very different. In order to help you to make a choice between yoga and Pilates, let’s explain them a little further.

Yoga - It came way earlier

Yoga has been around for over 5000 years. It is something much more than just a way of exercising. In fact, it is a lifestyle change that many people need to take seriously. This type of program is centered on the spiritual healing of the body as well as the physical aspects. It uses a wide combination of breathing and movements to get the body back into its targeted range. Yoga is something that encompasses the entire lifestyle in ethical, spiritual and physical form.

It is important to note that yoga is centered on meditation and that the poses that are done are done to allow for better concentration and better meditation abilities.

Pilates - It's a whole different animal

Pilates, on the other hand, is a physical healing process that uses movements and breathing to work. In Pilates, the body is taken from one movement to the next in a fluid change. This allows for continuous improvement in the body in a normal way. Pilates uses Contrology in its dance form. In this, the poses that are done are more fluid and provide for a more natural movement from one to the next.

Both of these types of programs allow for individuals to improve in their health and well being through breathing techniques. Controlled, regulated breathing is very important to the success of yoga or Pilates.

Which Should I Choose?

In order to know which of these you should choose, the best way to know which the better choice is for you is to actually give them a try. Sign up for a couple of classes and give them a try each. Which methods and processes do you feel more comfortable with? Which works the best for your lifestyle? The choice between yoga and Pilates is something that you need to make on your own.

Mike Singh is a successful webmaster and publisher of www.yoga-made-ez.com He provides more yoga health benefits and yoga sequences for your convenience.

Website revamped

Check it out in a couple of days the new website will be here. In a normal person this passage way is open enough to not cause snoring and eventual breathing stoppage.

In a person with sleep apnea you will find that the person snores sometimes very loudly and then complete silence for a period of time which is when the sleep apnea is occurring and they are not breathing. Their passage way is closed. After this pause the person snorts and then gasps and then continues to snore. When the snort and gasp occur the person comes out of deep sleep into a lighter phase, this unnatural interuption in sleep causes tiredness and the feeling of getting a bad nights sleep every day.

Sleep apnea is most common in overweight men. The combination of sleep apnea and obesity increases the risk of heart failure dramatically.

So how can my free breathing exercises from www.healingkinetics.com help?

Easy - teaching yourself how to breathe deeply will eventually lead to better subconscious breathing and more efficient breathing. The breathing exercises focus on your breathing muscles which does include the throat muscles that relax and cause the sleep apnea. After exercising your breathing muscles for two to four weeks they will firm up and be less flacid even when relaxed. This will keep your airway passage open during sleep. Also doing the breathing exercises is a start to increasing your metabolism and help you lose weight. The combination of these two things will help with sleep apnea.

Now realize that this is just a theory; however it has been shown in a few case studies that sleep apnea in some cases is relieved by deep breathing exercises. For me, I do not need case studies it is just a matter of making sense. If you can breathe better during the day and improve your oxygen capacity well then wouldn't it be better at night as well?

Water is not always water!

I just found out some interesting info.
